The meaning behind the name
THE BLK PRSPCTV means "The Black Perspective." It is a one-person writing platform that explores the very things that are Black and creative. The name resonates with the mission to identify and celebrate Black creativity. By centering on Black creators' multifaceted and richly diverse perspectives, the platform looks forward to bringing their voices, stories, and artistry to the forefront.
What I Offer
Art on Wax ( Biweekly on Mondays): This section celebrates the intersection of art and music. Imagine a gallery where vinyl records spin alongside vibrant paintings, each groove telling a story. Explore the rhythm of creativity through album covers that resonate with Black culture.
Creative Cravings (Once a month, 2nd Thursday): A series to satisfy your hunger for innovation with a thoughtful round-up of the latest happenings in Black creativity. From emerging artists to timeless masterpieces, this segment keeps you connected and inspired with insights and reflections.
Miscellaneous Essays (Random): This is where I let my thoughts wander, exploring ideas and topics that don’t fit neatly into my other series. These essays blend cultural commentary, personal reflections, and deep dives into various aspects of Black life and creativity. Whether unpacking a random moment in pop culture, reflecting on the intersection of art and social justice, or simply sharing stories from my own experiences, this section is a space for all the ideas that keep me curious. Here, you’ll find a mix of thought-provoking perspectives, moments of nostalgia, and the occasional rant or celebration of something cool that deserves a spotlight. Consider this section my creative playground, where nothing is off-limits, and everything is worth exploring.
Insomnia Hours (Last Thursday of Each Month):
It is a series where I share my late-night musings and reflections on Black culture and creativity. Written during the quiet, contemplative hours of sleepless nights, these posts blend humor, wit, and deep insights to explore the rich tapestry of our collective experiences. Join me as I dive into the thoughts that keep me awake and the inspirations that fuel my creativity.
My Vision
The vision of THE BLK PRSPCTV is to be a leading platform where Black creativity and perspectives are celebrated. I aim to create a community of readers who would value and support these Black artistic and intellectual contributions, namely:
Develop an Appreciation Platform: Where Black creativity is highly respected, admired, and brought into mainstream narratives.
Drive Cultural Change: Shift cultural perceptions by regularly showcasing brilliance and diversity among Black creators.
Support New Talent: Provide Black new and emerging creatives an opportunity to showcase their work and be known.
Stay bold, stay brilliant, and remember, as Jay-Z says, You could be anywhere in the world, but you're here with me. I appreciate that!
